The Circus Comes to Town

Susan and I were walking along the beach and on to the Valencia marina early one morning when we came across a small circus.  The Raluy Legacy Circus had come to town for the Christmas season.

We were fascinated. The circus wagons so snugly circled around the “big top”  looked to be individually handcrafted antiques. And upon closer inspection we couldn’t find any built more recently than 1942.  That did it for us.  We kept returning at different times of the day just to enjoy the painted wagons until we finally decided to buy tickets and see the show.

Of course we checked ahead of time to be sure there were no exploitive animal acts.  Acrobats, updated clowns and lots of laughs greeted us when we attended the late show on New Year’s Day 2022. Our first new experience of the year.

I loved it. Almost enough to run away and join the circus.
